My Go-To Restaurant in the Grand Strand

Since we live in a tourist town we often receive a lot of visitors- either family who are in town for a summer break or friends who want to crash on our couch. Before having a toddler we were always game for taking our company out and showing them around town; however, these days, a toddler in tow adds a bit of kink to those plans. Instead, we prefer to gather the group and go to a nice (often early) dinner at one of our favorite spots in the area- Salt Water Creek Cafe– for a relaxing meal and a glass (or two) of wine.

Tucked away under a large weeping willow just off US Business 17 in Murrells Inlet, Salt Water Creek Cafe offers ‘upscale casual’ dining with their beach chic decor and low lighting. They often, especially in the summer season, have an acoustic guitar player adding a nice melodic background.

They have a diverse menu filled with hearty and light options, including seafood, steaks, lamb, burgers, pizzas, salads, and more. We’ve been there several times and have never had a bad meal or experience. My husband and I always order a Big Bowl of P.E.I. Mussels to start, along with a cold, crisp glass of their house Chardonnay.

Salt Water Creek Cafe also has a fantastic selection of early bird and daily specials, like $7 pizzas on Wednesdays and Lobster Day on Saturday.

What to Order
Big Bowl of P.E.I. Mussels
She Crab Soup
Salmon with Lemon Pesto
Rack of Lamb
Yumburger
Mahi Tacos
Sun-Kissed Margherita Pizza

If you’re in the area and have a large group, check them out, but to ensure you don’t have a long wait, I’d advise making reservations first!
